Learning List

Here is the ever-growing list of things that I could learn this year. I have a feeling there are going to be a lot more things on the list than there are weeks to learn them!

I’d love to hear your suggestions, thoughts and ideas. What would you like to see me learn? What should I learn? What have you learned that’s amazing? Do you want to offer to teach me something? Add your thoughts in the comments below, and I’ll update the list each week.

I’ve bolded and thrown the ones that I really, really want to learn at the top for now, and the list will continue to change and grow as the year goes on, I’m sure.

TO LEARN:

  • Leatherworking
  • Taiko drumming
  • Make a pie crust from scratch
  • Patchwork quilts
  • Throw a clay pot on a wheel
  • Spin wool
  • Figure drawing
  • Paint something, anything
  • Wind surf
  • Hang glide
  • Make sex toys
  • Get over my fear of acting in front of people
  • Play with tiles/tiling
  • Sew something, anything
  • Breathe properly
  • Salsa dance (or any other kind of coordinated couples dance)
  • Ride a skateboard
  • Sail a boat

Oh, Shanna, I’m only now getting caught up on this great project you have going here. I could teach you some stuff about acting that would make it a lot less scary! I can also teach you how to “breathe properly” – which, by the way, is related to making acting less scary.

Do you remember that I took Taiko drumming when I lived in Portland? I miss it, miss it, miss it. And I think you would love it. Do it! 🙂

I’ve created lists like this before, but haven’t stuck with them. I think the one-thing-a-week might help. Hmm…

Have fun! And let me know about the acting/breathing thing! 🙂

  3. Oh, Michelle, that would rock! I’m going to need a road trip to take you up on it.

And, yes, I do remember. That’s what made me want to learn it, actually. It looked so amazing!

Oh, I have a friend who is a master Taiko drummer. He lives about four miles from here. I can give you unlimited free painting lessons. My mum could teach you some puppetry, which would involve acting. And … hm … we can do some meditating if you like?

See! Worth flying halfway round the world! Yes!

    ; )
