2.4 Figure Drawing (From Photos)

From this beautiful image. Yeah, I have a lot to learn!


So I invested in a very cheap sketch book and some pencils (called “Carbon Sketch” — I don’t know what that means, but I do know they don’t have erasers, which makes me wonder why I’m not just going back to drawing in pen anyway). I actually like the way the pencil feels on the paper, but I don’t like the way it smudges. How do artists work around that? I have no idea.

Today’s lesson is from photos. Which are, not surprisingly, hard as hell. But also somehow more fun than drawing from a drawing.

And it’s coming clear that some things I can do okay — hair, some curves. Other things — proportion, hands, feet, faces — ouch.

I’m not sure why she looks so horribly gaunt. I do like the way her hair and chin came out though. Based on this photo
